SBE approves affiliation with BESPAK

May 20, 2010 Indianapolis, IN - The Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) and the Broadcast Engineers Society of Pakistan (BESPAK) have signed a memorandum of understanding, creating an affiliation agreement between the two organizations. The arrangement provides for an exchange of information and technical papers between the two organizations as well as SBE Bookstore discounts for BESPAK members.

BESPAK is a recently formed organization of radio and television engineers in Pakistan. The chairman of BESPAK is Bilal Hasan, an engineer with GEO TV Networks. SBE has been providing organizational guidance to BESPAK as they develop their member services.

SBE President Vinny Lopez, CEV, CBNT said, "We are very pleased to enter into this affiliation agreement with our fellow broadcast engineers in Pakistan. The information and knowledge that these two organizations will share in the future will benefit the members of both SBE and BESPAK."

With the addition of BESPAK, the SBE now has affiliation agreements with nine broadcast engineering organizations around the world including those in Mexico, India, South Korea, Brazil, Uruguay, The Philippines and two in Canada.

The Society of Broadcast Engineers is the professional organization of television and radio engineers and those in related fields. SBE has more than 5,500 members in 115 chapters across the United States and in Hong Kong. SBE members can also be found in more than 20 other countries. SBE offers the largest and most recognized certification program for broadcast engineers, operators and technicians, with more than 5,000 certifications currently active. The SBE also offers a growing number of on-line and traditional educational courses and seminars for the technical broadcasting community.
